WelcomeAhmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta is strongly committed to protecting personal data. This privacy statement describes why or how we collect and use personal data and provides information about individuals’ rights. It applies to personal data provided to us, both by individuals themselves or by others.
Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable living person. Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta processes personal data for numerous purposes, and the means of collection, lawful basis of processing, use, disclosure and retention periods for each purpose may differ. This Privacy Policy tells you how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and at other points at which we collect your personal data. It tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you. This Privacy Policy may be presented separately in order to describe how we will use personal data in specific scenarios. We may use personal data provided to us for any of the purposes described in this privacy policy or as otherwise stated at the point of collection. This document may also be described as a Fair Processing Notice. This website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit. 1. Who we areAhmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta is a Religious Community. Also referred to as “AMJ Malta”, “Jamaat”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this privacy policy.
The Jamaat’s key aims are: The preaching and propagation of the message of Islam as revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as expounded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi (peace be upon him), and the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and interpreted by his successors Hazrat Khalifatul Masih. The Jamaat also aim to strive for moral, educational, spiritual and physical keep up of its members. In order to execute, support and promote the purposes of the Jamaat, the objectives of the Jamaat are:

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta is the data controller which is responsible for this particular website 1.1 Changes to this privacy statementWe recognise that transparency is an ongoing responsibility so we will keep this privacy policy under regular review. This privacy policy was last updated on May 22, 2018 1.2 Making a complaintYou have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Data Protection Commissioner, the local authority for data protection issues. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the Data Protection Commissioner so please contact us in the first instance. 1.3 A request we would like to make of youIt is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us. Where we need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you. We will notify you if this is the case at the time. 1.4 Letting you know about our eventsAhmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta may invite its members and/or others those who have expressed an interest in Islam Ahmadiyyat, to its events. You may receive such invitations if you have requested information from us where you have not opted out of receiving such invitations. If we seek to share your personal data with any company other than Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta, for the purpose of assisting us with offering invitations and organising events, we will request your express ‘opt-in’ consent. We may use your Identity, Contact and Profile Data to form a view on what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we decide which events may be relevant for you. 1.5 Opting out from being notifiedYou can ask us to stop sending you such invitations at any time by sending us an email on amjmalta@gmail.com on any invitations sent to you or by contacting us at any time. 2. What personal data we collect about youWhen we refer to collecting or using personal data, or personal information, we are referring to any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data). We may collect, use, store and share different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together in this table.
We may also collect, use and share aggregated data (i.e. Anonymous Data) such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated Data may be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific website feature. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with section 4.” How do we process your personal data” of this privacy policy Certain types of personal information are in a special category under data protection laws, as they are considered to be more sensitive. Examples of this type of sensitive data would be information about health, race, religious beliefs, political views or biometric information. We only collect this type of information about you to the extent that there is a clear reason for us to do so, for example asking for health information if you are taking part in a sporting event, or where we ask for information for the purpose of providing appropriate facilities or support. We will also collect this type of information if you make it public or volunteer it to us. Wherever it is practical for us to do so, we will make why we are collecting this type of information clear and what it will be used for. 3. How do we collect your personal dataWe use different methods to collect data from and about you. We have set this out in the table below.
4. How do we process your personal dataWe must have a “legal basis” for each use we make of personal information as per Data protection laws. The relevant legal bases are set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2016/679). We have one of the following legal basis for the personal data we process. 4.1 Specific consentConsent is where we ask you if we can use your information in a certain way, and you agree to this (for example when we send you communication via post, phone, text or e-mail). Where we use your information for a purpose based on consent, you have the right to withdraw consent for any future use of your information for this purpose at any time. 4.2 Legal obligationWe have a basis to use your personal information where we need to do so to comply with one of our legal or regulatory obligations. For example, in some cases we may need to share your information with our various regulators, or to use information we collect about you for due diligence or ethical screening purposes. 4.3 Performance of a contractWe have a basis to use your personal information where we are entering into a contract with you or performing our obligations under that contract. Examples of this would be if you participate an event organise by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta, or if you apply for job or volunteer work at AMJ. 4.4 Vital interestsWe have a basis to use your personal information where it is necessary for us to protect life or health. For instance if there were to be an emergency impacting individuals at one of our events, or a safeguarding issue which required us to contact people unexpectedly or share their information with emergency services. 4.5 Legitimate interestsWe have a basis to use your personal information if it is reasonably necessary for us (or others) to do so and in our/their “legitimate interests” (provided that what the information is used for is fair and does not unduly impact your rights). We consider our legitimate interests to include all of the day-to-day activities of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta carried out with personal information. We only rely on legitimate interests where we consider that any potential impact on you (positive and negative), how intrusive it is from a privacy perspective and your rights under data protection laws do not override our (or others’) interests in us using your information in this way. When we use sensitive personal information (please see the “What personal data we collect about you” section above), we may require an additional legal basis to do so under data protection laws, so will either do so on the basis of your explicit consent or another route available to us at law for using this type of information (for example if you have made the information manifestly public, we need to process it for employment, social security or social protection law purposes, your vital interests, or, in some cases, if it is in the public interest for us to do so). 4.6 Purposes for which we use your personal dataWe use your personal data when undertaking the following activities.
5. How do we secure and store your dataWe have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine need to know it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality. 6. With whom do we share your personal dataAhmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta may need to share your personal data with the parties set out below. Our purposes for doing so are set out in the table above marked “Types of personal data that we collect, store, use and transfer”
Where we are under a legal or regulatory duty to do so, we may disclose your details to the police, regulatory bodies or legal advisors, and/or, where we consider this necessary, to protect the rights, property or safety of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta, its staff, visitors, users, members or others. We will not share your personal information with any other third party. We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law and out own specific and stringent security requirements. We do not allow the above third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. 6.1 International data transfersIn some circumstances, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Malta or some of our suppliers may transfer your data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) – this may include a country which may not be subject to the same data protection laws as companies based in the EU. In these circumstances, we will take steps to make sure they provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with EU and Maltese data protection laws, and appropriate safeguards are in place. These include imposing contractual obligations of adequacy or requiring the recipient to subscribe or to be certified with an international frame work of protection. We will not otherwise transfer your personal data outside of Malta or EU/EEA or to any organisation (or subordinate bodies) governed by public international law or which is set up under any agreement between two or more countries. How long we keep your personal dataWe have specific criteria to determine how long we will retain your information for, which are determined by legal and operational considerations. For instance we are required to keep some personal information for tax or health and safety purposes, as well as keep a record of your interactions with us. We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the following criterion: the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data; the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data; the purposes for which we process your personal data; whether we can achieve those purposes through other means; and the applicable legal requirements. In some circumstances, we may anonymise your personal data (so that you can no longer be identified through the data) for research or statistical purposes. According to the law, anonymous data is not classed as personal data, as the data cannot be used identify any given individual. As such, we are permitted by law to use anonymous data indefinitely without further notice to any data subject. 8. Exercising your legal rightsUnder certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection law in relation to your personal data:
If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please contact us. 8.1 No fee usually requiredYou will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances. 8.2 What we may need from youWe may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response. 8.3 Time limit to respondWe try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated. 9.
